Vocational Training Sponsorships
Due to the current inheritance laws regarding the division of estates, many families in Uganda no longer have enough land to provide for themselves adequately. For this reason, it is essential for boys and girls to learn a trade after finishing school, in addition to the farming they continue to do as a secondary occupation. This gives them the opportunity to support their families later on and enable their own children to attend school. Only in this way can the cycle of poverty be permanently broken.
For this reason, Miteinander für Uganda eV, unlike other aid organizations, has decided not only to promote the schooling of needy children, but also to support them until they have completed their first vocational training.
We are delighted that we have already been able to help many of our sponsored children lead independent lives. They no longer depend on financial support. Some of them are now not only supporting their own families, but also other relatives.
We currently supervise approximately 15 trainees at various institutes and technical schools, e.g. in the professions of carpenter, plumber, bricklayer, locksmith, tailor, accountant, electrician, educator, nurse and midwife.
All training institutions charge tuition fees. Furthermore, trainees are often housed in a boarding school. The costs for vocational training range from €490 for basic craft training to €750 to €1,250 for qualified vocational training, commercial training, nursing, and midwifery schools.
Since the costs may be too high for a single sponsor, a sponsored child is often supported by several sponsors. If desired, you will also receive information about the child and their educational progress in this case. The amount of each sponsorship contribution can be freely chosen by you, starting from €100 per year.
By sponsoring a child's education (fully or partially), you complete the child's schooling and enable them to start their professional life.
